Game Summaries

Game 1 : Friday, August 22, 2003, 6:15 pm Vs. Brantford

The Bengals were determined to start off the SOBA's with a BANG! They were the away team. The bats began in the top of the 1st with lead-off hitter Ryan Rattos, then Mark Skrela. Cody Ireland hit them both in with a 3 run home-run. In the same inning Adam Lesniewski hit a 2 run home-run with Francis Pallotta on the bases. By The end of the First inning the Bengals had the Score 7-0. The Bengals took this won home winning it 12-2.

Other great notes
: Brian MacPherson hit a 3 run JACK, Bengals didn't have to use too much pitching as only 6 innings were played.

Game 2 : Saturday, August 23, 2003, 10:30 am Vs. Vaughan

With momentum already in their favour from the previous game, The Bengals just wanted to keep up the bats. That's exactly what they did, scoring 4 runs in the first inning. A great highlight to this game was Brian Machpherson and Brian Horrell hit back-to-back JACKS!!! The Bengals never looked back and took this game 11-1.

Other great notes:
Bengals didn't have to use too much pitching as only 4 innings were played!!!

Game 3 : Saturday, August 23, 2003, 5:00 pm Vs. Markham

The Bengals knew that the key to winning this game was the sticks, as they had been recently lit on FIRE for all players on the roster. Like the previous 2 games, the sticks came through scoring 7 runs in the first inning and kept going all the way until the bottom of the fourth inning. The Bengals took this one home winning by a score of 12-0.

Other great notes:
Cody makes a sliding catch at the fence behind first base, Bengals didn't have to use too much pitching as only 4 innings were played, SHUTOUT!!!!, Rattos goes 10 for his last 10.

Game 4 : Sunday, August 24, 2003, 11:00 am Vs. Pickering

Both team went into this game knowing that it would be a BIG one. These 2 teams have played each other twice before and having a split decison for each team. Pickering scored the first run of the game in the first inning. The Bengals got 2 runs back in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead. Pickering tied the game soon after at 2-2. Good Ol' JR reached second base and Rattos hit a double to score him in and take a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the 6th Cody pounded a single to score Rattos who was on second. Pickering made the game interesting in the Top of the 7th, hitting a home-run. 3 outs later, The Bengals won a great game by a score of 4-3.

Other great notes:
The Bengals played the best defense they had all year. Everything was either caught or made out, JR made up for his error in the first inning by scoring in the 4th.

Game 5 : Sunday, August 24, 2003, 6:30 pm Vs. Burlington

This was the Bengals' first appearance to the SOBA finals. They wanted to make the most of it. The aches and pains were totally ignored for this game, and the heart & adrenaline pumped through. The Bengals started off with a bang taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st. Burlington came right back with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The Bengals kept firing taking a 5-1 lead. Once again, Burlington came right back tieing the game at 5 a piece. In the top of the 6th inning The Bengals showed the fight that they had in their hearts taking 3 more runs and a 3 run lead. 6 outs away from a ring!!! Burlington showed a great fight as they scored a run in the bottom of the 7th inning and had runners on first and second with 2 outs....and a fly to Good Ol' JR. It seemed like the ball took forever to come back down, but when it did, it landed it JR's glove and the cheering and jumping began Bengals Win with a final score of 8-6.

Other great notes:
Cody Ireland played the best defensive game of his life, Gregger made up for his error in the 5th, with the Bengals last RBI, BHo makes an incredible catch in right field, Mark Skrela makes a blind catch in center field in the 7th inning, BENGALS 2003 SOBA CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!! Where the 2003 SOBA Champs came from
1999 - Cody, Francis, Adam, Joe & Walter: The only original members of the team

2001
The Snake: Left Larry Turner's team in 2000 and signed with The Bengals in 2001.
JR: Played houseleague and joined the team in 2001, then went up an age for 2002 and made a strong return for 2003.
Gregger: Played houseleague until 2001.

2002
Ryan Paul: Played a year younger and decided to jump up an age to our Team in 2002.
Ian Manson: We needed another coach, and there came Ian "Sticks" Manson, loosing his voice from day 1!!

2003
Mark (Skooner): Played for the Major Midget Bengals in 2002 and joined us in 2003.
Kevin O'Toole: Played on Greg Phair's team for some years and joined us in 2003.
BHo: Played with Greg Phair, then played on JR & BMac's team in 2002 and finally joined us in 2003.
Brian Mac: Played on with JR & BHo last year and came to our team.
