Game 1 : Friday, August 27, 2004, 6:15 pm Vs. Tigers
This year, the Bengals looked to focus on having fun and enjoying the game while the played it. The bats started in the top of the first inning for them as Greg DaCosta drove in Cody Ireland for a 1-0 start. Later, Adam, BHo and Frank the Tank tacked on more RBI's and increased the Bengals lead to 6-0 and eventual WIN. Pitching also helped the Bengals get the W. Kevin O'Toole pitched 5 scoreless innings and Francis Pallotta closed the game with no runs and got the save. The final ingredient to the win was defense. Middle infielders Cody Ireland and Ryan Rattos turned 3 double-plays, and Outfielders BHo and BourBon made great catches out in left field.
Other great notes: Bengals got the last laugh in a back-and-forth series between them and the RIVAL Tigers. |
Game 2 : Saturday, August 28, 2004, 8:30 am Vs. Brampton
Forward was the only way for the Bengals to look heading into game 2 against Brampton. A solid pitching performance by Francis Pallotta capped by 5 IP, 0 ER's and 8K's put the Bengals in a good position. A run batted in by Greg DaCosta and 2 by Kevin O'Toole put the Bengals up 3-0 heading into the last inning. Brampton scored a run, but it was too late for them to scare the Bengals off. Final score in favour of the Bengals 3-1.
Other great notes: Cody and Ryan turn 2 more double-plays. BRAMPTON and their 3rd base coach ATE SHIT!!!!!!! |
Game 3 : Saturday, August 28, 2004, 5:30 pm Vs. North Bay
On this ocassion, the Bengals had no idea what to expect from North Bay. They hadn't met each other before, but either team didn't take each other lightly. The Bengals scored first with 2 Runs, but North Bay came back with 2 of their own. Heading into the bottom of the 7th with a 2-2 tie, JR hit a single to start of the inning, followed by a walk by Scooter. Richie came up to the plate and hit a sac fly advancing JR to third. The Snake came up to the plate a ripped a single over the center fielder's head to win the game. Final score in favour of the Bengals 3-2.
Other great notes: Cody turned yet another double-play. RP makes magnificent diving catch in left. Kevin gets the W. |
Game 4 : Saturday, September 11, 2004, 1:30 pm Vs. Burlington - SEMI FINALS
This match reminded both teams of the 2003 SOBA Finals. The winner of this game determined which of the two teams would go straight to the finals. Francis took the mound just as he did against Burlington in the 2003 SOBA's. This year, the Bulls got the first run of the game going ahead 1-0, until BHo hit a triple and scored for the Bengals. The game kept going back and forth and the Bulls found themselves with the bases loaded and nobody out. However, the strong arm of their Center fielder allowed the Bengals to capitalize on a sac-fly that was hit to Scooter who gunned a man down at the plate to complete a double-play. It was this point that momentum shifted and stayed in the favour of the Bengals who won 5-4.
Other great notes: Cody steals home after a sac bunt by Adam, Kevin comes in the fourth and gets the win.

The Bengals headed into this year's finals surprised to hear that their opponent was none other than MBA opponent Cawthra A's, who defeated Brampton and Burlington to make it to the Finals. The Bengals knew that taking them lightly was not an option and their bats were loud starting in the top of the first inning, lead by The Snake who hit a double and later scored to lead off the game. The Bengals scored 2 runs in the first, 8 in the second and 5 in the next two innings. The Bengals smoked the Cawthra A's 15-0 to become the first team in SOBA history to win the Finals BACK-TO-BACK years.
